Building a New Home - A Woman's Venture
- Description
- Curriculum
Building a New Home: A Woman’s Venture is a Bible-based course for women who are preparing for marriage or are newly married. It helps students consider the responsibilities, habits, and spiritual practices that contribute to building a thoughtful, loving, and resilient home.
Through Scripture, guided reflection, practical exercises, and composite teaching scenarios, students will examine their personal expectations, communication habits, spiritual life, and approach to everyday married life. The course addresses subjects including emotional preparation, biblical character, prayer, conflict, intimacy, finances, work, extended family, friendships, digital boundaries, pregnancy, and family heritage.
The course focuses primarily on the woman’s contribution as a wife. It does not suggest that she alone is responsible for the success of her marriage, or that she can control her husband’s choices. Students will be encouraged to practise wisdom in their own lives, recognize what is beyond their control, and seek appropriate support when needed.
BY THE END OF THE COURSE, STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
- Describe practical ways to prepare for married life beyond the wedding celebration, including discussing expectations about faith, money, household responsibilities, family, and future plans.
- Identify personal expectations and learned patterns that may influence how they respond to disagreement, affection, responsibility, and change.
- Reflect on biblical teaching about a wife’s character and calling, including respect, submission, gentleness, discretion, prudence, and personal responsibility.
- Develop a sustainable personal spiritual practice that includes Scripture, prayer, reflection, and practical action.
- Use constructive communication practices such as listening carefully, choosing an appropriate time to speak, expressing concerns clearly, and agreeing on next steps.
- Recognize habits that can affect the atmosphere of the home, and identify practical ways to encourage welcome, rest, order, and kindness without pursuing perfection.
- Apply wise digital boundaries that support trust, privacy, contentment, and attentive time together.
- Approach marital intimacy with greater understanding, including mutual care, honest communication, consent, and appropriate attention to health and comfort.
- Distinguish forgiveness from denial, reconciliation, and restored trust, and identify when accountability or outside support may be needed.
- Participate more confidently in household financial stewardship, including budgeting, financial transparency, saving, debt planning, and thoughtful generosity.
- Consider how career, personal calling, household responsibilities, and rest affect one another, and identify practical ways to manage competing demands.
- Set thoughtful boundaries with extended family, friends, and other third parties while maintaining appropriate relationships and seeking wise counsel.
- Approach spiritual challenges with prayer and discernment, while also considering practical causes, professional care, and responsible action.
- Identify ways to prepare for pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and parenting, while understanding that faith does not guarantee particular reproductive or health outcomes.
- Create a personal plan for continued growth using the reflection questions, action steps, and practical resources provided in the course.
WHAT STUDENTS WILL TAKE AWAY
By completing the course, students will have a clearer understanding of their own contribution to marriage, a set of practical tools for reflecting and communicating, and a personal plan for applying what they have learned. They will be encouraged to build with faith, humility, wisdom, and realistic expectations—not to pursue perfection or assume responsibility for everything that happens in their marriage.
The course offers biblical education and reflection. It is not a substitute for medical care, professional counseling, financial advice, or safety support when those are needed.
